Empire vs. Empire: Disloyalty

Empire vs. Empire: Disloyalty

A Star Wars: Legacy of the Force Miniatures Scenario

It is another time of civil war. The Empire had wrested control of the galaxy from the disintegrating Galactic Alliance when their Sith allies suddenly deposed Emperor Fel by force and proclaimed Darth Krayt the new Emperor. However, Fel escaped and spent the next few years gathering whatever forces remained loyal to him, leading them against the usurpers.

Darth Krayt's ascension to the throne divided the Empire. The vast majority of worlds, Imperial Moffs, and other officials remained loyal to the Imperial throne itself, no matter who claimed it. However, some remained loyal to Emperor Fel. As the years wore on, entire units or ships defected to him secretly or openly, especially those who grew tired of their Sith commanders.

However, that will occur in the future. This scenario depicts the earliest days of the new Sith-controlled Empire. Each side regards the other as disloyal, either for failing to support the man or for failing to support the throne. In the days following the Sith takeover,

word reaches the upper levels of command that an Imperial military unit loyal to Fel is preparing to escape Coruscant. The Sith must move quickly to stop them -- and make an example of them.

Darth Nihl is dispatched immediately, along with another Force user and some loyal Imperial troops, to wipe out the defectors' leadership. The Sith and their troops are dropped off on a landing platform in the upper levels of Coruscant, where they discover that the defectors are not merely Imperial troops -- their leadership includes Force-wielding Imperial Knights.

Empire versus Empire. Sith versus Imperial Knights. Neither side can afford to back down.

This scenario uses miniatures from Legacy of the Force, Champions of the Force, and other sets. It uses the Ossus map, which is available on the reverse side of the Legacy of the Force set promotional gallery poster.

Special Scenario Rules

Damaged Twin Tail Fighter: There is a damaged Twin Tail Fighter on the platform. It cannot move much, but a character with the Pilot ability may use the Fighter's guns against enemy targets, subject to the following rules:

  • The guns may be fired for a maximum of four shots. After that, a character may gain another four shots after using the Industrial Repair special ability while in the cockpit (replaces attacks that turn). Use extra Force markers to keep a tally of shots fired.
  • Simply entering the cockpit square (see map above) allows a character to control the ship's weapons. A character may enter and fire in the same round, assuming that he does not exceed his speed as usual.
  • Firing the weapons replaces the character's normal attacks in a turn.
  • All targeting is from the cockpit square and follows the normal rules for choosing a target.
  • A Pilot character gains the following while in the cockpit: +5 to Attack when using the fighter's weapons; +4 to Defense.
  • The fighter's attacks have Damage 30 and Splash 10. (Splash 10: If this character's attack hits, the target takes the attack's damage as normal, and all characters adjacent to the target take 10 points of damage from Splash [enemies and allies alike]. If the attack misses, the target and all adjacent characters take only 10 points of Splash damage. In either case, a character can avoid the Splash damage with a save of 11. Splash damage cannot be redirected by Bodyguard effects [although if the original attack hits, the target can attempt to redirect the damage as normal].)

Fel's Reinforcements: A few reinforcements arrive to aid Emperor Fel's loyalists. Starting at the beginning of the fourth round (or at the start of any one round thereafter), a group of four characters arrives at Area A. By default, the reinforcements consist of an Imperial Knight, an Imperial Officer, and two Stormtroopers or Elite Stormtroopers.

However, these reinforcements must come from defeated units from Fel's squad, so if the skirmish is going well for Fel's side, some units might not be available. Fel's player may opt to delay deploying the reinforcements to a later round, and/or replace the Imperial Knight or Imperial Officer with a type of Stormtrooper. Reinforcements arrive between rounds, and all reinforcements must arrive at the same time.

Additional Notes

We Need to See Your Identification: Since each side may deploy the same type of unit in this scenario, use the following suggestions to help identify which character belongs to which side.

  • Each side should select groups of minis with the same pose. This works well with Stormtroopers, for which several poses are available.
  • One side uses some units with square bases (when such units are available from the Alliance and Empire set), and the other side uses units with round bases.
  • Swap out one type of Stormtrooper or Imperial Officer for another as a proxy, but use the original unit's stats. This is helpful if you have unused Stormtrooper types and only a limited number of required troopers.
